Getting Around Glasgow

Glasgow is well connected by air, rail, and road. Whether you’re arriving from within the UK or abroad, the city is easy to access.

Glasgow is served by 3 international airports, with connections across the UK and the world. If you’re traveling to the UK from abroad, you may need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

Glasgow Central Station is a direct train link that connects Glasgow with major UK cities. Bus and coach services offer budget-friendly options for travel to Glasgow within the UK.

Once you’ve arrived, getting around is simple. Glasgow has an excellent public transportation system, including the Glasgow Subway which is fast and convenient for city travel. Buses and subway trains will take you to nearby towns and attractions. Glasgow also has a walkable city center with plenty to explore on foot.

Glasgow Airport (GLA)

Glasgow Airport is only 15 minutes from the city center with an express bus service from outside the terminal.

Train Service

Glasgow Central Station

Glasgow Central Station is a direct train link that connects Glasgow with major UK cities and airports. Download the ScotRail Network Map.

Glasgow Subway

The Glasgow Subway is an easy way to get around the City Center and West End of Glasgow. Running every four minutes at peak times, it takes just 24 minutes to complete a circuit of the fifteen stations and costs from as little as £1.65 for an adult single to travel anywhere else on the system.

The Glasgow Airport Express operates 24 hours a day. You can board the service at stand 1 outside Glasgow Airport, stand 46 at Buchanan Bus Station, or at the designated stops in the city center. Enjoy the journey!

Visa Information

If you’re traveling to the UK from abroad, you may need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).
